Australian release date for Ridley Scott’s Prometheus confirmed

Officially Prometheus will hit Australian theatres on the 7th June 2012.

The UK will have it on the 1st June, and the US will be on the 8th June.

Great news that we won’t be subjected to the usual long delays for these sorts of movies to reach our shores down under!

The Ridley Scott-directed Aien prequel will star Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba and Noomi Rapace. And just to keep you interested, have a look at the latest trailer here…

First photos of the new Game of Thrones characters

Well it’s not long now at all until the new season of Game of Thrones kicks off. April 1st to be exact.

Up til now there hasn’t been an awful lot of information released to whet the fans appetites. Of course they released the names of the actors playing all the new characters for the new season, but asides from a couple of behind-the-scenes teasers, there hasn’t been much else for us to get too excited about. Until now…

HBO have released official photos of some of the new characters, and I must say they’re great. We’ve known about the actors playing these characters for some time now, but to actually see me in the flesh is another matter entirely.

Let’s kick off with Stannis Baratheon (Stephen Dillane) himself, accompanied of course by none other than Melisandre (Carice Van Houten).

Next up we have Brienne the Beauty (Gwendoline Christie).

Stannis’ right-hand man, Davis the Onion Knight (Liam Cunningham).

The father of Theon, and Lord of the Iron Islands, Balon Greyjoy (Patrick Malahide).

How’s that for starters? Satisfied? Stay posted for more shots when I get them…

Resident Evil: Retribution

What an awesome trailer! It starts off with what at first glance could be an ad for Google/Microsoft/Apple then morphs into Milla saying, “My name is Alice, and this is my world!” Classic!

There’s not a lot more to be said really. Its another Resident Evil movie – what more could you ask for? if you don’t like the Resident Evil movie series, then what are you even doing on this blog anyway?

Check out the trailer here.

Resident Evil: Retribution, the fifth installment in the series, will once again star Milla Jovovich (of course) as Alice, and will see the return of Michelle Rodriguez and Sienna Guillory as Jill Valentine. Paul W.S. Anderson will once again direct.

The movie is due for release in the UK and US on the 14th September 2012, and in Australia on the 11th October 2012.

The Hour’s Ben Whishaw cast as Q in Skyfall

Ok, some more news coming out about the upcoming Bond 23 or Skyfall to give it it’s proper title. For the first time since the Daniel Craig reboot we will have a Q!

The MI6 tech genius, most famously played for years by Desmond Llewelyn and most recently by John Cleese, will be played by Ben Whishaw. The Londoner has been most recently starring as Freddie in the BBC’s excellent The Hour, and will be seen by some as an odd and rather young choice fir the iconic Q, but I’m sold. Think he’ll be an excellent choice, great actor.

Skyfall will be directed by Sam Mendes, and will star Daniel Craig as Bond again and Judi Dench as M. The all-star cast also features Javier Bardem, Ralph Fiennes, Albert Finney and Naomie Harris. It is due for release in the UK on the 26th October 2012, the US on the 9th November and Australia on the 22nd November.

First Trailer for Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

What a great way to ease myself back into writing the All Action No Plot Movie Blog (its been a month already!) than by showing you the new trailer for the upcoming Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter stars Benjamin Walker as the titular American president who’s “mother is killed by a supernatural creature, which fuels his passion to crush vampires and their slave-owning helpers (from imdb).”

It will he directed by The Night Watch’s Timur Bekmambetov, and also stars Rufus Sewell, Dominic Cooper and Mary Elizabeth Winstead. It is of course based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Seth Grahame-Smith.

Abraham Lincoln : Vampire Hunter is due for release in Australia on the 21st June 2012 and the US on the 22nd June. The UK won’t see the movie till the 2nd August 2012.
