We’re still five months out from Bond 23 and the first teaser trailer is already upon us.
The great news is, the trailer doesn’t disappoint. In fact it’s a cracker, and it looks like it’ll put Bond back on top after the stumble (in my opinion) that was Quantum of Solace.
With The Bourne Legacy on the way, this latest Bond needs to be on top of his game, and I’m impressed enough by the trailer to be reassured.
We see plenty of Daniel Craig as Bond of course, plus glimpses of Judi Dench as M and Ralph Fiennes as what looks like a British Government official. There’s also a shaggy-haired figure silhouetted against flames who must surely be Javier Bardem.
Excited? Check out the trailer.
Skyfall has a typically early release date for the UK (they always get Bond movies first, of course) of the 26th October 2012, whilst Canada and the US have a release date of the 9th November 2012. Australia lags behind with a 22nd November 2012 release date.
If ever a movie epitomised what The All Action No Plot Movie Blog stood for, then 2010′s The Expendables was that movie!
Well, now it’s back, with the appropriately named The Expendables 2. Even the title harks back to those action flicks of the 80′s and 90′s.
Apart from the mindless action, gunfights and explosions the one thing that made the original stand out from the crowd was it’s cast. Well, believe it or not they’ve just made the cast list for the sequel even better…
The closing credits in the trailer say it all. “Stallone, Statham, Li, Lundgren, Norris, Crews, Couture, Hemsworth”. Then the next page continues with “also Van Damme, with Willis and Schwarzenegger”.
Yep, you did read that alright. And yes, that is Norris as in Chuck Norris.
Check out the scene with Schwarzenegger and Willis in the Smart car. Classic!
The Expendables 2 has a release date of the 17th August 2012 for Canada, the US and the UK, and a release date of the 30th August 2012 for Australia.
I must confess, I’m still not completely sold on the new Spiderman ‘re-boot’.
Like a lot of you out there I was initially confused as to why the series needed a reboot in the first place. To be honest I’m still a bit confused. And the previous trailer didn’t convince me.
Enter the latest trailer. To be fair, this one impresses me more. If only for lots of scenes with Rhys Ifans as The Lizard. Still not sold on Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker, but I think Ifans can possibly lift the movie.
Am I being a bit harsh? Any Spidey fans out there? Tell me what you think…
The Amazing Spiderman has a release date of 3rd July 2012 for Canada and the US, and a release date of the 4th July 2012 for the UK and Australia.
Now we’re talking. A proper trailer that actually begins to unravel a bit more of the story, and shed some light on the mystery that has surrounded the build-up to Christopher Nolan’s finale to his Batman trilogy.
We finally gets good look at Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman and Joseph Gordon-Levitt as John Blake. Of course, we still see plenty of Tom Hardy, Christian Bale, Michael Caine and Gary Oldman.
Personally, I think the trailer looks great! The tone and mood couldn’t be further away from the all-conquering Avengers, but I think this is a good thing. Nolan once again drops the comic-book style of the Marvel productions for something more dark and gritty.
Once again, Australia sees this one first with a release date of 19th July 2012. The US and the UK have a release date of 20th July 2012.
The official trailer for the upcoming sci-fi time travel movie Looper has just been released.
Directed by Rian Johnson (Brick, The Brothers Bloom) and starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis and Emily Blunt, Looper tells the story of a hitman (Gordon-Levitt) working in the year 2042.
Working for the mob, who send their victims back in time from 2072 for him to kill. It all goes wrong when one day his next victim appears and is actually his future self (Willis).
Check out the trailer.
Looper is due for theatrical release in the US and UK on the 28th September 2012, and in Australia on the 11th October 2012.
Great news for lovers of the work of JRR Tolkien, is that The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will screen in IMAX. Not so great news however, is the news that it will screen in 3D.
Of course, you might already have seen that IMAX is now showing the trailer for The Hobbit before its current feature films so you can get a glimpse of Bilbo, Gandalf, Thorin and his dwarf companions, and of course Gollum.
One thing to note however. The IMAX trailer and poster is currently displaying a release date of Dec 14th 2012. Note that this advertised release date is for the US and UK release, and NOT the Australian release.
The Australian release date is still the 26th December. From what I understand New Line Cinema have yet to make Australian-specific trailers and posters for the movie, and IMAX are clearly using the US versions for the time being.
To be honest I’m a bit disappointed with this. Unless the plan later this year is to bring forward the Australian release date to the 14th December to coincide with everyone else (which I doubt is the case), then to advertise the wrong release date for such a significant movie is a bit slack to say the least!
And do we really need it in 3D? Let me know what you think?
A few days ago, I announced the upcoming release of the first official trailer of the upcoming Arnie remake Total Recall, starring Colin Farrell.
Well, the trailer has been released and it looks great…
As my last blog post stated…
“With a hugely impressive cast which includes Colin Farrell, Kate Beckinsale, Jesssica Biel, Bryan Cranston, Bill Nighy, Ethan Hawke and John Cho, Total Recall should be a hit. Sure, it might have Underworld helmer Len Wiseman in charge (hence Kate’s presence of course), but to be fair he’s not that bad, and it’s a cracker of a story, so my hopes are high.”
Total Recall is due for release in the US on the 3rd August 2012, the UK on the 22nd August, but want reach Australia until the 6th September.
The latest TV spot for The Avengers finally reveals a glimpse of Loki’s alien army.
In a scene featuring Robert Downey Jnr as Tony Stark and Tom Hiddleston as Loki, the two compare armies, finishing in Stark’s now immortal “We have a hulk” line.
Already there has been a bit of criticism flying around of the look of the aliens, but I honestly believe its too early to make a call on this. The glimpse is only that – a glimpse. Let’s wait til we see the real thing in the movie itself before we pass too much judgement.
In the meantime, feast your eyes upon the new trailer…
The Avengers is due for release in Austalia on the 25th April, in the UK on the 26th and the US on the 4th May.
According to this teaser trailer, the world premiere of the new Total Recall trailer will launch on Sunday.
It’s all very bombastic and hyped-up. One wonders what might have become John Carter with this sort of build-up…
The teaser gives little away, but does look pretty impressive, and I for one am looking forward to Sunday’s premiere.
