Ah, now we’re talking. With Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises due to hit movie theatres next Summer (note, Nothern Hemisphere summer!), the news, pics and trailers are going to start coming thick and fast in the coming months. And to kick it all off? The first official teaser poster.
Pretty good, eh? Of course, you noticed the bat symbol made out against the tops of the crumbling skyscapers, didn’t you?

This looks great. Christopher Nolan knows how to make a great poster. He hasn’t let all that success get to his head ….
A few other film sites have suggested thematic cues in the poster – the crumbling concrete signifies the destruction of Gotham and the sky representing freedom, shaped as the Bat symbol – meaning Batman will be Gotham’s only hope etc.
Personally, I also think the poster hints at something to do with aerial activity, seeing as to how the sky is a part of the motif for the bat symbol here.
Maybe a clue finally hinting at the appearance of the Batwing? Aka Batman’s third most recognizable and iconic vehicle after the Batmobile and the Bat-Cycle/ Bat-Pod?
