It’s a title that isn’t too far away from Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, but is just as intriguing nevertheless. Hansel And Gretel: Witch Hunters is set 15 years after the infamous gingerbread house incident, when the titular brother and sister managed to escape the clutches of the witch. They’re all grown-up now and have become bounty hunters, out to kill witches of course.
Jeremy Renner (yep, him again) and the lovely Gemma Arterton (apparently Dragon Tattoo’s Noomi Rapace was up for this role, but Arterton did win it in the end) will play Hansel and Gretel, and an impressive cast list also includes Famke Janssen and Peter Stormare. Tommy Wirkola, a rather unknown young Norwegian director will direct.
The movie is apparently in post-production as we speak, and is due for release in the US and UK on the 2nd March 2012.
