Dredd finishes filming, starts post-production

Dredd has a lot of wrongs to right. The original comic book character has always had a huge cult following, and almost everyone to a man was disappointed with the 1995 Stallone effort.

At least this time around Karl Urban (Judge Dredd) has promised that the helmet will stay on throughout the movie. Which is welcome news, considering that was one of the biggest gripes of the original movie.

Urban will be joined in the cast by Lena Headey (Game of Thrones’ Cersei), Pete Travis (Omagh, Vantage Point) will direct, and Alex Garland (The Beach, 28 Days Later, Sunshine) has written the script.

As I said, although filming has completed, the movie isn’t set for a release until 21st September 2012, so there is plenty of time for things to go wrong yet. You may have heard the rumors of Travis being sacked? Well, of course these rumors have since been refuted, but you can’t help but feel that drama and bad luck might dog this project for the next year. Let’s hope that they can keep things together and put out at least a half decent movie…

  1. The Stallone Judge Dredd movie is actually one of my childhood guilty pleasures, which i still enjoy to this day. As i mentioned to you before Johnny, I just couldnt get into the Judge Dredd 2000AD comics, but then again i didnt grow up in the UK.
