The title says it all really, doesn’t it? Who wouldn’t want a Blade Runner sequel? Probably the same people who wouldn’t want a certain Alien prequel by the name of Prometheus…
Sure, there’s always a huge element of risk attached when revisiting classics like Blade Runner, but when you have the original director on-board, especially one of the standing and craft of Scott, then you can rest assured – to a certain degree – that he’ll do justice to the original.
Scott make the announcement in a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal’s Speakeasy. He’s quoted as saying, “I think I’m close to finding a writer that might be able help me deliver, we’re quite long way in, actually.”
The only other fact we that we could discern was that none of the original cast would be returning this time around, which doesn’t seem entirely surprising given that the movie is almost 30 years old now. Scott himself is a staggering 74 years old – doesn’t look it does he? Or maybe he does actually….
At this stage there is now word on any release date. Stay posted.
