I run the All Action, No Plot Movie Club. We're a movie club with over 150 members that meets once or twice a month to see the latest, loudest and dumbest action blockbuster. I also have just launched the All Action No Plot Movie Blog (or All Action No Blog for short), as a news blog which gathers all the latest movie news, trailers, casting news and release dates for all the upcoming action movies.

First official photo from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

Details have been few and far between on the upcoming and much-anticipated Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Until now, with the release of this photo of Henry Cavill as Superman. Sure, it still doesn't give much away, but it does hint at a darker, edgier direction for Superman.

Directed by Zack Snyder, starring Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck as Batman, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has a UK release date of 29th April 2016 and a US release date of 6th May 2016.

Sherlock to return for Special and Fourth Season

The BBC has just confirmed via a series of Tweets, using the hashtag #221back (confused? See the featured image above) that the hit show Sherlock will indeed return.

Details are still a bit sketchy, but it's pretty clear that Andrew Scott as Moriarty will feature heavily – you may remember his appearance right at the end of last season, as a teaser for the new season.

The fact that he took over the BBC's twitter account for the duration of the tweets may have been a pretty obvious clue too!

Filming is due to begin on January 2015. Whilst this does appear to be a long way off yet, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise really, considering how difficult it must be to get both Martin Freeman and Benedict Cumberbatch together at the same time!

What we do know is that there will be a one-off special, most likely a Christmas Special, and this will be followed by a three episode fourth season.

Stay tuned for official release dates the minute there come available!

X-men: Apocalypse script teaser

Bryan Singer has just posted on his Instagram account a teaser of the first page of the script for X-men: Apocalypse.

With the paint barely dry on X-Men: Days of Future Past, the follow-up is already in the works. Not many details are available yet, apart from of course the inclusion of Apocalypse and the Four Horsemen as the main protagonists

X-men: Apocalypse has a UK release date of 19th May 2016 and a US release date of 27th May 2016. Still some way to go then…

Constantine now a non-smoker?

John Constantine's smoking habits might be a crucial element of this general storyline, and obviously feature prominently in Alan Moore's graphic novels, but you won't see our anti-hero light up in the upcoming TV show.

According to director Neil Marshall, unfortunately NBC have put their foot down, and refuse to allow Matt Ryan's Constantine to smoke on our TV sets!

How they work around this without changing the characters fundamental backstory will be very interesting!

Constantine will premiere on NBC at 10pm on Friday 24th October 2014.

New teaser image for Jurassic World

Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow has just tweeted an image from the set of the upcoming Jurassic World, and it's enough to get our juices flowing.

It doesn't give too much away, see for yourself.

Jurassic World stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard and Judy Greer, and has a US/UK release date of the 12th June 2015.

The Falcon gets the call for Avengers: Age of Ultron

After the success of his appearance in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Anthony Mackie has joined the cast for the big one.

He will reprise his role as The Falcon in Joss Whedon’s upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron, due to hit screens next year.

The story goes that he had to wait a while before learning the news, and had spent some time bugging his good friend Chris Evans (Captain America) to tell home whether he was in or not. Well, eventually the call came and all’s good.

The Falcon was definitely one of the main highlights for me of the altogether excellent Captain America sequel earlier this year, and I’m thrilled to see him back for the main event!

The Avengers: Age of Ultron has a UK release date of 24th April 2015, and a US release date of 1st May 2015.

Australian Release Date for The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies

For the third year in a row Australian movie fans will have to wait a whole two weeks longer than the rest of the world before they get to experience the final part of Peter Jackson's fantasy trilogy.

The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies does promise to be an epic finale to the story, but Australians will have to wait until 26th December 2014 to enjoy it, as the movie's distributors plump yet again for the coveted Boxing Day slot at the cinemas.

As for the rest of the world, The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies has a release date of 12th December 2014 for the UK and Ireland, and 17th December 2014 for the US.

Doctor Who Series 08 Release Date and Trailer

The BBC have been teasing us for some time now about the upcoming new Doctor Who series, which will of course introduce Peter Capaldi as the new Doctor. Capaldi will be joined by Jenna Coleman as Clara Oswald.

Series 08 has been confirmed by the BBC as returning on Saturday 23rd August.

Check out the new trailer “Am I a good man?” below.

Official Release Date for Pacific Rim 2

Sure, it might yet be some way off still, but we're pleased to be able to share with you the official release date for the sequel to the 2013 hit Pacific Rim.

On Thursday director Guillermo del Toro made the announcement of a release date of 7th April 2017. No official word at this early stage about which actors from the original movie will return for the sequel.

Stay tuned for more.

Fury trailer

If this first official trailer is anything to go by, Brad Pitt’s newest movie Fury certainly looks the real deal.

Set in Germany during the Second World War, there is a definite flavour of Saving Private Ryan and Band of Brothers about it, which can only be a good thing.

Directed by David Ayer (of Street Kings and End of Watch fame), it stars Brad Pitt, Shia LaBeouf and Logan Lerman. It has a UK release date of 24th October 2014.

Have a look at the excellent trailer here…
