Bryan Singer has just posted on his Instagram account a teaser of the first page of the script for X-men: Apocalypse.
With the paint barely dry on X-Men: Days of Future Past, the follow-up is already in the works. Not many details are available yet, apart from of course the inclusion of Apocalypse and the Four Horsemen as the main protagonists
X-men: Apocalypse has a UK release date of 19th May 2016 and a US release date of 27th May 2016. Still some way to go then…
For the third year in a row Australian movie fans will have to wait a whole two weeks longer than the rest of the world before they get to experience the final part of Peter Jackson's fantasy trilogy.
The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies does promise to be an epic finale to the story, but Australians will have to wait until 26th December 2014 to enjoy it, as the movie's distributors plump yet again for the coveted Boxing Day slot at the cinemas.
As for the rest of the world, The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies has a release date of 12th December 2014 for the UK and Ireland, and 17th December 2014 for the US.
Sure, it might yet be some way off still, but we're pleased to be able to share with you the official release date for the sequel to the 2013 hit Pacific Rim.
On Thursday director Guillermo del Toro made the announcement of a release date of 7th April 2017. No official word at this early stage about which actors from the original movie will return for the sequel.
Stay tuned for more.
So the word is that Gwendoline Christie is the newest addition to the cast of the new Star Wars movie.
No doubt that this will be welcome news to the millions of fans out there of HBO’s Game of Thrones. English Actress Christie plays Brienne of Tarth, seen most recently on the hit TV show battling The Hound during the last episode of Season 04.
At a towering 6′ 3″ in height, Christie certainly has the stature that in my opinion could suit any number of character types in the upcoming space extravaganza. I for one will be really interested in learning what role she has actually landed.
Star Wars Episode VII, directed by J.J.Abrams and starring John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Domhnall Gleeson and Lupita Nyong’o, as well as returning stars Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher, has a tentative Australian release date for 18th December 2015.

Marvel have just announced that the Captain America sequel will be officially titled Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
It has a US release date of the 4th April 2014, with no dates yet for Australia, Canada or the UK.
For those not familiar with this Captain America story arc, The Winter Soldier is a Russian assassin from WWII who is kept in cryogenic stasis when not on missions, hence hasn't aged since the end of the war. His real identity is somewhat more interesting…
The other rumour currently doing the rounds is that of Anthony Mackie (The Hurt Locker) being cast as Falcon in the upcoming movie. Back in 1969, when the Falcon was introduced as one of the world's first black superheroes, he became Cap's closest ally.
Currently Chris Evans is the only confirmed star to sign on.
Keep posted for more details as they emerge.
WARNING: this trailer is not suitable for kids, or for viewing at work!
Wasn't sure what to make of the first trailer for Pete Travis' upcoming Dredd that was released a couple of weeks ago. However, this new trailer is something else entirely.
I must warn you before you watch, this is incredibly violent and bloody. The trailer takes one of the scenes from the original trailer and shows us more. Much more.
Focusing on Karl Urban as Dredd and Olivia Thirlby as Anderson, it's not for the faint-hearted, and certainly leaves us under no impression as to which direction the final movie will take.
Check it out for yourself, but make sure your Grandmother or boss isn't watching over your shoulder…
Dredd has a UK release date of the 7th September 2012, a release date of the 21st September 2012 for Canada and the US, and a release date of the 25th October 2012 for Australia.
There's lots I like about this movie already. It has Quentin Tarantino's name attached to it, it's the directorial debut of RZA, and was co-written by RZA and Eli Roth.
It has a fabulous poster…
And of course, a fascinating cast which includes Russel Crowe, Lucy Liu, RZA, Cung Le and Jamie Chung.
And then there is this amazing trailer. Just watch, and tell me you don't want to go out and see this…
In 2009 Neill Blomkamp's low-budget sci-fi movie District 9 was a real surprise hit, and put the South African director on the map.
Since then, Blomkamp as been pretty quiet, although news is starting to appear on his new movie Elysium. Apparently there has been a lot of secrecy surrounding his new project, but images of its star – none other than Matt Damon – have begun appearing.
The story, according to IMDb goes, “In the year 2159 two classes of people exist: the very wealthy who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Rhodes, a government official, will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium.
That doesn't stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can. When unlucky Max is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that if successful will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds.”
Elysium also stars Jodie Foster as Secretary Rhodes, as well as William Fichtner and Blomkamp favourite Sharlto Copley.
Elysium as a release date of the 1st March 2013 in the UK and the US, with a release date of 7th March 2013 for Australia. No dates have yet been released for Canada.
Ok, so it's been a wee while since my last post. Guess I needed a break after all the hype of Pometheus at the start of June. Anyway, I'm back with renewed vigour, and a cracker of a movie to report about…
On the eve of Comic Com comes the first images of Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim. Reported on this blog a year back, Pacific Rim is a sci-fi epic with “a group of humans piloting robots against an alien invasion of earth” as I so eloquently put it last July.
Courtesy of EW we have some of the first photos to be released of the stars in 'uniform'. First, Idris Elba (The Wire, Luther, Thor)…
Followed by Rinko Kikuchi (Babel) and Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy) …
Of course, there's a bit more to the movie than my original summary.
From /film.com, Del Toro describes the movie “There’s much more to it than the giant monsters and giant robots. We want to make it a big what if: what would happen in the real world if a twenty-five story thing came out of the sea and started destroying cities? How would the world change? What weapons do we need to develop to fight a thing like that? It’s not a fantastic distant future to which we have no relationship. We wanted to make it in the now.”
Pacific Rim has a release date of July 11th 2013 in Australia, and a release date if July 12th 2013 for the US and UK. No Canadian date as of yet.
