More dwarves for The Hobbit

Another new photo has been released showing more dwarves from Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. This time we see Fili and Kili, played by Dean O’Gorman and Aiden Turner. New Zealander Dean won’t be so familiar to most of you, but a lot of you will have seen Irishman Aiden in the TV show Being Human.

The Hobbit: photos released of the Dwarves

It’s still some time till December 2012 and the first installment of Peter Jackson’s eagerly-awaited The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, but it seems like we’re going to be receiving plenty of tit-bits over the next year and a half leading up to then. The latest come in the form of a couple of new photos. The first to be released was that of dwarf brothers Nori (Jed Brophy), Ori (Adam Brown) and Dori (Mark Hadlow). Personally, I’ve been very impressed with the look – if I ever had one gripe about the original Lord of the Rings trilogy, it would have been how they portrayed the dwarves. Sure, Gimli looked ok, but the other dwarves at Elrond’s council I thought looked rubbish, all fake noses and stuck-on beards. I’m happy that the dwarves in the new movie at least look ‘real’ if you know what I mean, and in fact I think they look pretty awesome. Which is good, considering how big a part they play!

The second photo to be released was of Oin (John Callen) and Gloin (Peter Hambleton), the latter of course being the father of Gimli:

Oin & Gloin
Oin in particular I think looks great in this photo. It shouldn’t be long before we see photographs of the other dwarves, and I’m really looking forward to seeing how they deal with Richard Armitage, James Nesbitt and Aiden Turner! Stay tuned to the All Action No Plot Movie Blog for more photos from The Hobbit as they are released!
